Horndean have signed four players as they bid to improve on last season’s 17th place finish in the Isthmian League South Central Division, writes Jack Norris.
The management team of Shaun Hale and Andy Darnton have swooped for winger Lewis Olajide from Millbrook, centre-half Amadou Jallow from Havant & Waterlooville, AFC Totton midfielder Ollie Erdinc and former Southampton striker Siph Mdlalose.
Lewis said: “I'm really excited to be here. It's a great opportunity for me. I'm looking forward to the challenge of playing at step 4. It's a tough league, very physical and competitive, so I'm going to give it my all.”
Amadou, who was on loan at Bognor Regis Town last season, added: “I'm buzzing to join Horndean. I'm really excited for the challenge ahead. As a centre-half, I want to bring tenacity and aggression to the team. I'm expecting a fast-paced, competitive and physically tough league. You can't overlook anyone.”
Ollie said: “I'm buzzing to be here. Having worked with Shaun and Andy before, it felt right, it made sense to join. I played for Andy at Eastleigh academy, he's a great coach and is very well known. He also has a great knowledge of the game. I more recently worked with Shaun, last season at Downton. I really liked his relaxed coaching style and the respect he has for his players, and his success speaks for itself.
“It's going to be a real challenge but I'm well up for it. I want to bring high energy in the centre of the park. I love being involved in the game, attacking and defending. I want to cover lots of ground and work hard for the team.”
Siph turned professional at Southampton in 2017 and represented South Africa at under-20 level. After leaving St Mary's he played for numerous clubs including Salisbury, Wimborne and Winchester.
