The 13-year-old played nine shots under her handicap to win by five from Lili Rose Hunt of Gaudet Luce, while Hampshire girl Hannah Dymott (Meon Valley) recorded a net 70 to claim third place on countback from four other players.
Lottie started playing three years ago and has since been joined by her younger sister, Milly. They’ve been encouraged by their father, Nick, who is the club’s junior organiser.
Lottie has made rapid progress with her golf, representing Surrey girls and winning the handicap prize at the Surrey Schools’ Championship for the last two years.
Her score to win the Abraham Trophy was her best ever by three shots and will bring about a healthy handicap reduction. She began her Blackmoor round with a birdie and finished with back-to-back birdies, completing a back nine of two-under par.
The Abraham Trophy was the curtain-raiser to the English U16 and U14 Girls’ Championships which were hosted by Blackmoor. More than 140 leading young players headed to Hampshire in search of national titles, but also had a battle with the very wet weather.
Annabell Fuller (Roehampton) won a play-off against Thalia Kirby to take the U16 title, while Charlotte Cattaneo birdied the last to win the U14 championship by a stroke from Italian team-mate Adreina D’Angelo and Spain’s Marta Lopez Echevarria.
The championship was reduced to 36 holes after the second round was washed out.
Lille-Beau Thorpe of Cowdray Park tied for 15th with 77 and 83. Lottie Woad and Blackmoor’s own Olivia Ripiner both shot 83 and 83.
• Farnham’s Tom Spreadborough made his mark at the English Amateur Championship, scoring 68 and 75 at The Berkshire to qualify for the match-play phase against the best amateurs in the country. Spreadborough, one of the youngest qualifiers, lost narrowly in the first round.
• Farnham’s junior team of Eddy Williams, Lottie Woad, Charlie Chilcott, Daniel Edes and Stanley Platt beat The Army GC 5-0 in their final group match in the Guildford & District League.
The victory secured Farnham top spot in their group and earned them qualification for Finals Day. As defending champions, Farnham will host the final next Wednesday (Aug 23).
• Farnham Seniors were successful in the John Ling Trophy, winning their third-round tie away to Windlesham GC by 3-2.
