LOTTIE Woad continued her excellent season with sixth place at the English Girls’ U14/U16 Open Amateur Championship last week.
The best girls in this age group from 11 countries throughout Europe gathered for the championship at Lyme Regis Golf Club in Dorset.
Franscesca Fiorellini kept the championship in Italian hands, winning the trophy by five shots. The 13-year-old was one-over par for the 54 holes and follows Charlotte Cattaneo as champion, adding her name to a trophy which was once won by Georgia Hall, the recent Women’s British Open winner.
Windy conditions made it tough going for the 144 players.
Lottie Woad, the Farnham Golf Club junior, who finished runner-up in the English Schools U16 Championship last month, shot rounds of 78, 78, 76 for a +10 total, just a shot off fourth position.
The 14-year-old recovered well from a difficult start, having begun her first round with four successive bogeys, and scored a number of birdies in each round, together with an eagle at the tenth hole in her second round.
Lottie finished level with the defending champion, Charlotte Cattaneo of Italy.
