EIGHTY-THREE players took full advantage of the benign conditions to post some excellent scores at Cowdray Park Golf Club’s April Medal.

Top of the pile was one of the younger ‘seniors’, Paul Owen, whose net 65 continued his handicap improvement.

The runner-up in Division One, three shots behind, was Guy Goodens (68), followed by Chris Strudwick whose 69 included three birdies.

Justin Thorpe set the pace in Division Two with a net 68, fending off three challengers on 69 – Adam Exall, David Hayward and Mick Fillary.

The Division Three winner was another ‘senior’, Gary Strowbridge, who edged out a revitalised Ronnie Barber on countback, both shooting net 67s. Then came Andrew Douglass on 68 and Graham Angell with a steady 71.

Cowdray Park Seniors put out a strong side for their home match with Hayling Island and ran out 5.5-2.5 winners.
