TWO young Farnham members joined up with their coach to win a high-profile pro-am at Sunningdale heath.
Logan Hodgson, aged 11 from Farnham who plays off 19, and his friend ten-handicapper William Mannering, 11, from Aldershot, joined Sully Donald from Chelmsford in an all-junior line-up.
The trio – who are coached by their pro partner on the day, Tom Reid, the director of golf at Sunningdale Heath – beat a star-studded field of 23 adult teams to claim victory.
The event – the Clutch Pro Tour pro am – saw the best two stableford scores from any four of the players count.
They amassed 98 points – which converted to 26 under par – and took the honours on countback.
The Clutch Pro Tour aims to be very inclusive and is open to ladies and men as well as golfers of disability.
A pro event also took place with 72 quality players taking part, including Dame Laura Davies, Scott Drummond, Charlie Hull and Trish Johnson.
The Clutch Pro Tour is a big deal for the professionals.
The tour takes in some of the most iconic courses in the country and the overall winner will receive a year’s Mizuno sponsorship, featuring a full bag of equipment – driver, metal woods, a full set of irons and wedges – plus a season’s worth of balls and gloves, two pairs of shoes, a tour bag and clothing from Mizuno’s range of performance apparel.
Will Percival won the pro title after a play-off, picking up £1,400 after he tied with OJ Farrell on three under par.
