Newcombe was immediately back on court to meet Derick Jacobs in the Hounsham Handicap Plate final. Newcombe started each game on -5 and Jacobs on +5, but Newcombe won an exhausting encounter, 15-12, 3-15, 10-15, 15-13, 15-9.
The doubles Plate went to Paul Hudson-Oldnall and Rob Atkinson, beating Ed Guyver and Mark Doherty 3-0.
The main doubles final between Allan Davison/Steve Jackson and David Henderson/Jon Menhinick is being played at a later date.
The tournaments were organised by Gary Hales and Mark Doherty, with additional help from Derick Jacobs, while John Hayman refereed the finals.
