STRUGGLING Portsmouth & Southsea put up a brave fight and Haslemere twos, the unbeaten Hampshire 2 leaders, were made to work hard for victory in a scrappy game.

Both teams lost possession all too easily, but Haslemere scored the goals that mattered.

The first was scored by Alastair Gloak whose cross-cum-shot somehow found its way into the bottom left corner.

Portsmouth were kept under intense pressure and the visitors’ second goal, put away by skipper Charlie Milsom, left the home side with a mountain to climb.

Haslemere remained dominant in the second half and now their game was more composed as they moved the ball with accurate passes.

Matt Putnam made it 3-0 with an outstanding double deflection as Haslemere retained their 11-point cushion at the top of the division.
