HASLEMERE Border AC took 27 runners to the Manor Farm Park cross country meeting. This was the penultimate race of the Southern League series and Haslemere’s outstanding performer over the 25 miles was Joe Perkins who took a personal best second place in the men’s section.

Tom Mendum was close behind in fourth and Lawrence Hollom continued to impress with 11th. Rounding off the scoring team, Luke Brocks came 31st and Dan Allaway 35th.

Other Border placings: Nick Bailey 127th, Roger Cripps 144th, Dominic Perkins 151st, Rupert Hollom 162nd, Enda Holmes 163rd, Tim Wishaw 173rd, John Dickinson 174th, Andy Wareham 187th, Richard Gillham 196th, Steve Loveday 199th, Dave Card 238th, Nick Wishaw 250th.

Haslemere Border finished an impressive second overall.

Sofia Shearring matched Perkins’ result by finishing runner-up in the ladies’ race. She was followed by Donna Read in sixth and Sian Dixon completed the scoring top three in 27th.

Other positions: Jules Dellar 68th, Lisa Blayden 74th, Rachael Barlow 96th, Clair Wadey 121st, Janice Worsfold 132nd, Anne Marie Greenway 161st, Leonie Beatty 162nd.  

The ladies came third overall, while the combined scores put Haslemere first overall out of 23 teams.  Hart Road Runners were second and hosts Stubbington Green third.

Haslemere Border are now joint second overall with Hart Road Runners with just one race to go. This will be Haslemere’s very own race on February 28.
