HASLEMERE Border AC runner Luke Shearring won the Alice Holt 10k race with a time of 35mins 43secs, comfortably ahead of runner-up Scott Kennedy, from Blackwater Valley Runners, in 36-07.

The 10k race was the main event of the popular Alice Holt meeting, organised by Farnham Runners, which includes 5k, 3k and 1k races for all ages.

Haslemere Border had a great turn-out, with strong results across all the races.

In the ladies’ 10k race, Alex Croucher, Michelle Webb, Sofia Shearring, Donna Reid, Issy Peters and Jules Dellar romped to a superb team victory, beating strong competition. Shearring finished second female overall, with Reid, Peters and Croucher completing the first Border four over the line, well supported by Webb and Dellar.

For the men, Luke Shearring’s time of 35-43 was, remarkably, not far off his flat 10km personal best. Despite an unfortunate issue with a timing chip, the team of John Dickinson, Tom Millns, Colin Butfield (a top-10 place), Shearring, Cairon Pearson and Andy Webb finished second behind Farnham.

The fast-improving Lawrence Hollom came second overall in the 5k race. It was his first podium finish.
