FARNHAM Knights 38, Bristol Aztecs 39. It’s been the toughest of starts for the Knights. Having gone down heavily to last year’s champions and runners-up in their opening two fixtures, they lost their opening home match in a heartbreaking climax.

Bristol went ahead early on, but the Knights fought back to lead right up until the last few seconds when a passing touchdown snatched victory for the team placed third in the Southern Premier League.

The fact that the winning play even took place was controversial. Farnham appeared to have won the game by stopping the Aztecs, only for a questionable penalty to extend the game for one more play – one play too many for the Knights.

The match was eventful throughout. In the second quarter, Knights defensive captain Steve Price was ejected (sent off) for a second unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. Already short of key players, this was a serious blow to the home team.

The pressure was on Aaron Sekwalor and the young running back delivered in sensational fashion with four touchdowns – a record for the Knights. Steve Godfrey got the other TD.

Sekwalor carried 30 times for 327yds, breaking Kingsley Ejiogu’s record of 321yds in a game set in 2014. But it wasn’t quite enough for the Knights.
