TIM Jude of Andover Wheelers was fastest on the night with a time of 21mins 53secs in the fourth Alton Cycling Club/ Owens Cycles time trial of the summer, run last Thursday on the ten-mile H10/8 A31 course.
Second place went to the Charlotteville tandem pairing of Paul Batchelor and Jon Saunders with 22-43.
The tussle for third spot was a close-run thing and unattached rider James Allen and Alton member Iain Cotton were awarded the same time of 23-06.
Shaun Blow was not far behind with his 23-11. Charlie Williams (24-44) and Keith Parrish (26-00), on his first outing in this season’s series, completed the Alton line-up.
Windy weather kept numbers down and times relatively modest at the previous week’s ten-mile time trial.
Twelve riders pitted their fitness and stamina against the A31 course and tough conditions.
Unattached competitor Keir O’Donnell was quickest with 22-15 and Maidenhead & District Club veteran star lady Danuta Tinn (23-39) pipped Matt Butler (23-46) of Charlotteville for second place.
These three were all a shade faster than home club members Iain Cotton (24-02), Shaun Blow (24-21 in his first outing of the season), Miles Thomas (25-25), Charlie Williams (25-31) and Gary Hodgson (30-09).
Earlier, wet and chilly conditions reduced the entry to just four in the second time trial of the 2017 series.
None of the three Alton riders could beat regular visitor Dom Brooks of Farnham Tri, who recorded 22mins 08secs for the 10-mile A31 bypass course.
New Alton member Iain Cotton was second with 24-16, followed by Miles Thomas (26-12) and Gary Hodgson (29-52).
