The Women’s Martial Arts Tribe in Farnham are enjoying taking part in a martial art called Pil Sung Do - similar to kickboxing, but with a few tweaks.
Pil Sung Do’s purpose is to achieve adaptability, for modern living, excellence, and technical evolution in self-defence.
The art has a positive impact on fitness and health, is fun to practise and is easy to learn.
As indicated by its name, the school is offering classes for women only, with a female chief instructor, Nathalie Pinte, who is a fourth dan black belt, making her the highest-ranking female black belt in the discipline.
Tribe member Debbie Pearce said: “Nathalie has been practising for more than ten years, is totally dedicated and incredibly talented, truly caring for all her students.
“All members are supported to ensure they get the most from their martial arts journey. It may be for fitness, fun, a new challenge, self-defence, progressing through the belts or a combination of factors.
“We have a truly diverse and incredible group of ladies, with age ranges from 18 to over 60, from all different backgrounds, and we can train up to four times a week. Nathalie skilfully manages every session, supporting all fitness levels, abilities and individual needs.
“We look forward to each class as they are always varied, covering different punches, kicks, core strength, stretches and techniques. It is especially good after a stressful day as it’s a great controlled release.
“We are also a social group, meeting up for activities outside classes - including dragon boat racing to raise money for a wonderful hospice charity.”
The Women’s Martial Arts Tribe train at Farnham Heath End School on Wednesday and Friday evenings, and offer a free taster session plus a course for beginners.
