FARNHAM Knights got back to winning form in the Premier Division South with a comfortable 41-6 victory over Bury Saints.

This was largely due to a masterclass performance by quarterback Nick Roope, but it was a team efforts as well, with five different players scoring six touchdowns.

Aleksi Makinen recovered a fumble on Bury’s opening possession which led to Roope orchestrating and finishing Knights’ first drive with a quarterback sneak just three yards out. Francis Annandale converted (7-0).

In the second quarter, Kingsley Ejiogu ran untouched round the left for 35 yards and strolled into the end zone (14-6).

Knights added another two scores before the half. Ejiogu and Paul Wakeford set up Roope again and Harry Alexander got on the scoresheet after holding off two defenders (27-6).

Wilcox collected the ball deep in his own half to kick off the second half and ran 75 yards to score (34-6). The officials then invoked the clock running rule to avoid further embarrasment and or injury. However, Knights player Bart Bashary was unlucky enough to break his arm late in the game.

A Roope pass to Matt Wilson and a 20-yard run (41-6) was the final score as the game fizzled out in the sweltering heat – just as the Red Arrows flew over.

• Knights’ next home game will be on August 12 when they host Bristol Aztecs (2.30pm) at Farnham Rugby Club’s Monkton Lane ground.
