ALDERSHOT TOWN 0, ACCRINGTON S 0
GUY Madjo could have become an instant hero for his new club, but the Cameroonian striker, who claims not to suffer from nerves, fluffed his lines when he had a glorious chance to end Aldershot's goal drought on Saturday.
After an hour's deadlock, Accrington, who had defended with great resolve, were caught out by Anthony Straker's smoothly-accelerating run down the left and the full-back's superb cross found Madjo completely unmarked at the far post. At that vital moment, Madjo lost his footing, fell on his backside – and the chance was gone.
In fairness to Madjo, who began his English career at humble Petersfield Town and had a trial with the Shots when Terry Brown was manager, he held the ball up well – Marvin Morgan-style – laid if off deftly, and was full of running.
But it's just not happening for Aldershot in front of goal.
