DANNY Hylton, Aldershot Town's former leading scorer, has signed for Rotherham, newly promoted to League One.

The forward has signed a two-year contract, with an option for a further 12 months.

Hylton, 24, who scored 12 goals in 32 games for Aldershot last season, was one of several players made redundant by Aldershot after the club went into administration.

He will be working with short-fused, but undeniably successful manager Steve Evans.

"He's an exceptional young player who hasn't been lucky enough to play in a very good team," said the Rotherham boss.

"He's got a fantastic work ethic and can get a goal."

Hylton has been one of Aldershot's best players in recent seasons, but blotted his copybook in May last year when he received an eight-match ban after being found guilty of two charges of racial abuse.

He scored a hat-trick against Rotherham in the FA Cup last season but was sent off in the same match.

Aldershot, who were relegated from League Two last season, currently have just six players on their books, plus manager Andy Scott and his staff.

The club's financial future remains in the hands of administrators Quantuma Restructuring.

Aldershot have been accepted into the National Conference, with a 10-point deduction, and the administrators are soon to make a detailed statement on exactly how the club are to pay off a debt of £1m.
