Chichester II 2, Aldershot & Farnham 2

ALDERSHOT & Farnham were left to rue a host of missed chances as they came away with just a point at Chichester on Saturday.

Chichester had a 2-0 lead at half time, their goals coming from a short corner and an alert forward dispossessing last man Jamie Weston.

A&F had what seemed a legitimate goal ruled out when the score was 0-0, with the umpire instead awarding a short corner, while Joe Whelan spurned a chance when clean through one on one and a number of short corners went unconverted.

So even at half time, when behind, A&F believed they could win their game, such was their superior play and possession, but they would need to hit back quickly.

That they did as Jonny Thompson made a strong run to find Whelan to finish at the far post on the reverse.

From there on in Aldershot & Farnham dominated with their build-up play continually opening Chichester up, only for them to let themselves down in the final third with woeful finishing and more poorly executed short corners.

But the equaliser finally came when Andrew Simmons pushed forward from the middle of the defence and played a ball in from the top of the circle for Rob Jervis to touch home.

A&F pressed for the winner and had the ball over the line again, only for the umpire to blow his whistle prematurely and award the visitors a short corner instead.

Their frustrations continued and goalkeeper Andrew Wilkie was forced to make a vital late save to prevent Aldershot & Farnham leaving with nothing.
