JAMES Baker of Chichester Runners was the overall winner of the 33rd Alton?Ten with a time of 56mins 46secs.
Julian Manning (Denmead Striders) was runner-up in 58-29 and third place went to Jon Fairs of Haslemere Border AC in 59-08.
The overall women’s winner was Erica Fogg of New Forest Runners with 1-05-44, ahead of Helen Wallington (Totton RC) in 1-06-23 and Rebecca Lord (Stubbington Green Runners) in 1-07-28.
The popular race for once took place in blazing sunshine and attracted 490 runners from far and wide. Hosted by Alton Runners and Alton Lions, the Alton Ten is part of the Hampshire Road Race League and raises money for local charities.
Starting from Treloar’s College, the route winds through ten miles of lanes and hills, passing Holybourne, Binsted, Blacknest, Bentley and Isington before reaching the finish line at Eggar’s School.
The first Alton Runners member to finish was Alistair Morey with a time of 1-10-40 for 58th overall.

Vicky Bishop headed the Alton ladies with 1-18-24 for 150th overall.
