IT certainly wasn't pretty, but the result was all that mattered for Dean Holdsworth and his men on Tuesday as Aldershot ended their six-game winless streak with a vital home victory over bottom-of-the-table Barnet.

Craig Reid's third goal of the season, scored with just 20 minutes left in an otherwise drab encounter, was enough to give the Shots their first three-point haul since the opening day of the campaign.

On balance, the 1-0 win was just reward for the hosts, who played the more enterprising football against a dogged Bees outfit intent on cancelling out their opponents.
