THERE is never a shortage of warriors on a rugby pitch, but a special call is being made this weekend.

Farnham Rugby Club is appealing to women to ‘release their inner warrior’ at a special camp on Sunday. The initiative is part of England Rugby’s ‘Inner Warrior’ campaign, which has been created to introduce women and girls to rugby. It has already helped bring thousands of new players into the game, offering women a fun opportunity to broaden their horizons and to try out a new sport for free.

Jenni Balmer, Farnham women’s head coach, said: “Women and girls’ rugby in England is going from strength to strength across all levels, and grassroots rugby in particular has experienced rapid growth.

“Farnham has a new girls and women’s section and we want as many people to enjoy the sport and get involved as possible. This is your chance.”

The warrior camp will consists of activities that are used to teach participants the skills and techniques of rugby, challenging players to compete, learn, have fun, get fit and make new friends along the way. There will also be rugby giveaways and lunch.

The camp will be held at Farnham Rugby Club’s Wilkinson Way home, on Monkton Lane, from 1pm-2pm. Anyone aged eight or over is eligible.
