FARNHAM Rugby Club hosted over 80 matches last weekend, with the club’s own Rugby Sevens Festival on Saturday being followed by the Harlequins Junior Cup finals on Sunday.

The bulk of the matches were played in the Farnham Sevens. Eight specialist sevens sides competed for the Keltbray Cup and £750 prize money. Sixteen social sides played for the Farnham Rugby Cup, while eight touch sides went for the Comley Skips Cup.

The Keltbray Cup was won by Jerk King Prawns – a side formed by a group of KCS Old Boys – and the runners-up were Tintri Tornados, an invitation side from London.

The Farnham Rugby Cup went to Extras and Black – a team from Hartpury University – and the Comley Skips Cup was won by Farnham Gazelles, one of two sides fielded by Farnham’s O2 Touch Rugby players.

On Sunday, eight full 15-man matches were played at Monkton Lane as the club hosted the Harlequins Junior Cup finals for the Surrey RFU.

These games were the culmination of a season’s cup rugby for colts (U17/U18), under-16s and under-15s, with ten clubs from all over the county making use of Farnham’s fine facilities.

Effingham & Leatherhead had a particularly successful day as they overcame a very strong Rosslyn Park side 26-10 to win the Quins Cup for colts, while their under-15s edged out home side Farnham 24-19 in a close and entertaining game.
