ALDERSHOT TOWN 0

CHESTERFIELD 1

Abject Aldershot Town slipped into the League Two relegation zone with a lifeless performance which left a poor Chesterfield side scarcely able to believe their luck.

Looking devoid of confidence, and repeating the mistakes which had already condemned them to six defeats in 10 games, Dean Holdsworth's side failed to impose themselves on a game involving two struggling teams.

The Shots peaked as early as the third minute, as Troy Brown's header was cleared off the line, but thereafter virtually gifted managerless Chesterfield their first away win of the season. The visitors were without six first-team regulars and lost midfielder Mark Allott to injury in just the 22nd minute, but the Spireites still had too much as Aldershot Town faded badly in the second half.
