A BOLD approach against struggling opponents paid off as Aldershot dispatched an ineffective Accrington Stanley at the EBB Stadium on Saturday.

With their shared traumatic history – both clubs have dropped out of the Football League in mid-season – there have been some feisty battles since both won promotion back to League Two, Accrington in 2006 and Aldershot in 2008.

But this was a pale imitation of former tight tussles as a disciplined Aldershot easily overcame a toothless Lancashire outfit.
