CONTROVERSIAL and somewhat harsh though this defeat may have been, Aldershot's stuttering start to the season is in danger of snowballing into a genuine winter of discontent.

Having produced another fine defensive display to smother Stanley's fluent attacking play, the Shots were caught by a sucker-punch to thwart hopes of a battling draw.

With the last kick of normal time, top scorer Padraig Amond capitalised upon Jamie Young's error to grab the winner. And just to rub salt into the wounds, Peter Vincenti was sent off in injury time after a clumsy tussle with the goalscorer.
