ALDERSHOT ended a difficult week – and the first quarter of the season – with a display of strength on their return to the national stage.

Beset by injury, and in need of a response after a poor performance at Welling just three days previously, Andy Scott's patched-up side showed impressive character to dent the Harriers' imposing home record.

BT Sport television viewers were treated to a tense display of defensive solidity from both sides as the Shots recorded their fifth clean sheet of a burgeoning season, despite the loss through injury of Joe Oastler and goalkeeper Glenn Morris.
