BARNET 1,
ALDERSHOT TOWN 3
WITH something approaching a consummate away performance on Tuesday night, Aldershot Town finally earned their reward for putting in the hard miles.
After last week's stoic draw in Gateshead, the Shots augmented that defensive resilience with three splendid goals, bringing them a first away win in three months.
In truth, Barnet were desperately disappointing, failing to bounce back from Edgar Davids' weekend resignation and getting Paul Fairclough's fourth tenure as manager got off to a miserable start.
Director of football Fairclough had taken interim control on Monday following the departure of the high-profile Davids, the former Netherlands 'Pitbull' midfielder.
But Barnet's drab display takes no credit away from Aldershot who won every individual battle in the game and were sharper and stronger in every part of the pitch.
