Playoffs-chasing Badshot Lea romped to a 6-0 victory at Epsom & Ewell in the Combined Counties League Premier Division South on December 16.

Badshot Lea led after four minutes. Some slick passing was followed by a good ball in from the left, which was volleyed back across goal by Mark Holley and tapped in at the far post by Luis Hamblin.

Their second goal in the 17th minute came through the midfield. The hosts lost the ball and it was picked up by Hamblin, who slotted a nice pass into the path of Brandon Vangrove, who beat keeper Ben Grummitt with a neat finish.

Four minutes later it was 3-0. More slick passing down Epsom & Ewell’s left saw the ball played across to the unmarked Holley, who finished without pressure.

Badshot Lea keeper Roan Strong had nothing to do except pick the ball up from behind his goal after two poorly taken free kicks from just outside the box.

In the 57th minute a long ball forward was missed by Stefan Aiwone, allowing Vangrove to run clear on goal. Aiwone chased back, and caught him in the box, but brought him down from behind. Referee Albert Warr awarded a penalty which Hamblin tucked away down the middle.

Two minutes later it was 5-0. A throw-in on the left found Stan Jones with his back to goal and seemingly nowhere to go, but he turned his man and scored with a good shot after a fine piece of skill.

Epsom & Ewell finally had a shot on target when Tyler Robinson went on a good run and forced Strong into a good save low to his left.

With two minutes left Badshot Lea came down the left again and were awarded a second penalty for a foul by Luis Oliveira. Substitute Ben Jordan sent Grummitt the wrong way from the spot.
