ON the hottest day of the year, sailors young and old from Frensham Pond Sailing Club took to the water.

The occasion was the annual ten-hour race with 21 teams competing in different classes.

Backed by a brisk north-east breeze, the 2.4 team had the lead early on when the wind was light, but it was really a battle between the Solo team and the RS200 team throughout the day with about four minutes in the last half of the race between the top two teams.

The Solo team managed to maintain its advantage for the vast majority of the race, securing first place at the end.

The top three winning teams who won prizes donated by Rooster Sailing were:

1 Solo – John Haine, John Marriott & Adrian Law (assisted by Meg Pascoe and John McGuinness).

2 RS 200 – Charlotte, Rebecca & Keith Videlo (assisted by Katrina Gilbert and Jenny Rust).

3 RS 100 – Ian Gregory, Clive Eplett & Simon Lomas-Clarke, Luke Ansty and Charlotte Videlo.
