Petersfield Squash Club’s second team have clinched this season’s Hampshire Squash League Division Four title.

The team were unbeaten throughout the season, winning all 16 matches played between September 2023 and March 2024 and amassing an impressive 292 points out of a maximum of 320 to secure promotion to Division Three for the 2024-25 season.

Petersfield finished their campaign with a trip to The Avenue in Havant to face second-placed Avenue’s second team in a high-stakes encounter, with both teams vying for the top spot in the league. A win for Avenue could have seen them snatch the title from Petersfield's grasp. However, Petersfield clinched the match with a hard-fought 3-2 victory.

The 3-2 win not only secured the match victory but also earned Petersfield the crucial five-point match winning bonus, cementing their position at the top of the league and clinching the Division Four title.

The core team for the season was James Graham (first seed), Olly Truelove (second seed and co-captain), Will Aldridge (third seed), Mark de la Haye (fourth seed and co-captain) and Ed Easton (fifth seed).

Co-captain Olly Truelove said: "It's been an incredible journey for us as a team. Every member has contributed immensely to our success, and we're thrilled to have achieved our goal of winning the league."

Petersfield’s second team displayed skill on the court throughout the season, as well as dedication, teamwork and determination. The team will now turn their attention towards next season and the exciting challenge of Division Three squash.
