FARNHAM’S Shooting Stars floorball team lived up to their name by winning all four of their matches in the Three Counties League and clinching the title with one fixture still to go.

Playing at Charterhouse, the Shooting Stars won two of their games 10-0, thanks to fine one-touch passing and accurate shooting from the players aged nine to 11.

Farnham’s U16 Fireballs, meanwhile, played three matches against the Hornets winning 7-2, 6-3 and 5-2. The games were far tougher than the scores suggest, but Fireballs defended as one and attacked as one.

Tom Jeffrey performed 360-degree spins to avoid tackles, while new recruit Aleksi Potter scored a solo goal timed at five seconds into a match. Rob Corbin was struck in the face, but recovered from a nose bleed to play in the next match. That summed up Fireballs’ gritty determination.

Floorball, based on ice hockey, is played at Farnham Sports Centre on Saturday afternoons.
