TENNIS A consolidated their lead in the Aldershot Table Tennis League Division One at the halfway stage of the season by recording a narrow 6-4 victory over Central A.
Ross Saxby won all three for Tennis and team-mate Eliot Tilley chipped in with a double. Central’s Phil Snelson also won two.
Bentley A were convincing 7-3 winners against Tennis D. Michael Kwan won all his singles for Tennis, but Bentley players Micky Lang, Steve French and Robin Street all took doubles in a consistent display.
Central B swept Tennis C aside 9-1, with both Martin Townshend and Robin Pretty undefeated and Andy Appleby bagging a brace.
Chris Dury and Paul Rumble both recorded maximums for Ash B in a 6-4 victory over Frimley A.
Peter Millard, Paul Baker and Ramesh Bhalla were the all-conquering trio as Central A whitewashed Ash A.
Frimley B notched up their first win of the season in Division Two, beating fellow strugglers Braybrooke A 8-2. Quang Le led the way for Frimley with a full house and team-mates David Mackinnon and Hilary Greig each won twice.
Fleet A lost their perfect record when they drew with Cody A. Cody’s Peter Anthony was the star of the evening with a treble, while Lawrence Dack and David Joyce both won twice for Fleet.
Frimley C and Ash C also shared the points in a match where no-one won or lost all three. Peter Farrelly and Andy Griffiths won two apiece for Frimley, as did Frank Winnard for Ash.
In Division Three, Tennis F easily overcame their G team, 8-2. Paul Jarvis won his three, but colleagues Graham Marshall and Graham McCulley could not get the better of the G team’s Charles Burton.
Cody D beat Crawley Ridge A 7-3, thanks to maximums for Fan Lei and Dean Hewitt. Cody C beat Ash E by the same score. John Harvey was unbeaten for Cody and Jock Docherty and Alan Richards both won twice.
Frimley D, with only two players, held Tennis G to a draw. Anthony Connelly and Barry Baxter doubled up for Frimley.
Crawley Ridge B beat Cody F 6-4 to lead Division Four at the turn of the year. Phil Garrett took a maximum for Crawley Ridge, supported by David Marchant’s double. John Asprey won two for Cody.
Closest rivals Tennis H won 6-4 against Ash F. Sheila Pretty was unbeaten for the losers, while Ken Lewington and Keith Johnson won two each for Tennis.
Tennis J also won 6-4, this against Ash G. Again, a player from the losing team, Bob Murrell, was unbeaten. Tom Ette and Mehrdad Abutalebi took two apiece for Tennis.
Completing a quartet of 6-4 results, Ash H beat Braybrooke B. Ben Carr won all three for Ash and Brian Lunn backed him up with a pair. Braybrooke’s Sandra Jackson replied with two wins.
