THE magic sub 20-minute (30 mph+) barrier remains unbroken in this season’s Alton CC/Owens Cycles series of 10-mile time trials, including their Open ‘10’ the previous weekend.
Last Thursday, not even the two-up combination of local regular Steve Williamson (...a3crg) and David Shephard (GS Stellar) were able to beat that mark, although their 20-17 was comfortably fastest on the night on the H10/8 A31 course.
Second quickest was unattached rider Keir O’Donnell in 21-02, with David Waters (VC Godalming & Haslemere) taking third spot on 22-11.
Alton rider Iain Cotton was fourth in 23-25, closely followed by clubmates and usual suspects Shaun Blow (23-28), Charlie Williams (24-49) and Keith Parrish (24-53). The latter’s time was his best of the season by some margin in this series.
Alan Jacob managed the time-keeping and pushing-off, with help from Eddy Stevens, Mike Hayward and Peter Remnant.
