A FLOORBALL hockey team from Farnham has bounced back from a mauling at the hands of the London Great White Sharks last month.
Having been beaten 10-4 by the leaders of the English Floorball League last time out, the Southern Vipers beat newcomers Coventry Lightning 10-2 in Farnborough and drew 3-3 with the second-placed Rhinos, who are based in the Cotswolds.
The organisation for the English League is rotated between teams and this time around the Vipers players and staff ran the event, making sure the rink was set up and that the other games were on time.
Vipers coach Johan Brandhorst said: “It was a good experience but we’re glad to be done with it and let the organiser responsibilities go to the next team.”
Southern Vipers train at Farnborough Leisure Centre but are largely made up of players from the Farnham Fireballs junior team, who train at Farnham Leisure Centre every Saturday during term time.
Floorball, which is based on ice hockey but played in regular sports halls, is a fast-growing sport played in 74 countries and is on the waiting list for the summer Olympics.
