ALDERSHOT TOWN 2
CHESTER 0
CONSISTENT only in their inconsistency, Aldershot Town rediscovered the sort of pride and passion which would serve them well in their rollercoaster ride toward Conference survival.
Brett Williams was again the barometer of the Shots' fortunes, illuminating a strong performance with the two close-range finishes which saw off struggling and disjointed Chester.
Too often lamented by supporters as lightweight
and lazy, this was Aldershot Town's top scorer playing with a point to prove and displaying his undoubted qualities as both a finisher and leader of the line.
"We were the better side but you could tell that we hadn't won for a number of games and were so desperate to win," admitted Andy Scott.
"We made some nervous errors but on the whole the lads showed that they're up for the fight and are desperate to get us out of this situation."
