Police have tracked down a woman wanted after an alleged racially-aggravated assault in Church Crookham earlier this year.

Hampshire Constabulary issued an image of the woman, apparently taken on a camera phone, on Monday. It followed an incident outside the Holy Trinity Church on Aldershot Road in Church Crookham at around 8.30pm on Saturday, May 14.

Police say a woman was stood outside the church when she was approached by another woman who started shouting abuse at her.

The woman who was shouting then assaulted a man in his 40s while being racially abusive towards him, said officers.

A spokesman for Hampshire Constabulary said: “Officers have been carrying out enquiries since the incident and are keen to speak to the woman in this image.

“Do you know or recognise her? “Anyone with any information is asked to call us on 101 quoting reference 44220190941.”

But in an update on Tuesday morning, the force confirmed the woman had been found and asked for images of her to be removed from the internet.

“We will update in due course,” added a police spokesman.
