A MAN known to be until recently sleeping rough in Farnham has been arrested in connection with an assault investigation.

Police confirmed Marcus Lee Garvey O’Neill, 32, of no fixed address, was arrested on Monday (January 20) after officers launched an appeal to track him down earlier this month.

A Surrey Police spokesman added: "We would like to thank everyone who provided information and shared our appeal."

The wanted dad-of-one was, until late last year, living in a tent close to Farnham town centre but disappeared shortly after being moved on from Lion & Lamb Yard.

In an interview with the Herald, he said he had left his house after threatening to assault a social worker, and had previously been "in and out of prison".

He was also seen begging outside Sainsbury's in South Street last year, and in speaking to the Herald, also threatened violence against "anyone else who tells me to get a job".
