A GLAMOUROUS hat stolen from award-winning Beverley Edmondson Millinery in The Borough has been reacquainted with its rightful owner after reappearing on top of a woman’s head at Ascot.

Earlier this year a rose gold sequin hat was stolen from the Beverley Edmondson boutique in Farnham. Having reported the hat’s disappearance to the police, Beverley and the team were provided with a crime number so should the piece be spotted at any of the prominent forthcoming races over the summer, the case could easily be followed up.

Whilst perusing eBay one week before Ascot, Beverley noticed a listing for the stolen hat with her label’s name, noted in the sales pitch (new with tags) and an incorrect, original price of £934. Upon spotting this, the police were contacted again who could then follow up with eBay.

The following week, Beverley attended Ascot and what should she see within 10 minutes of arriving but the stolen hat, sitting on the head of the lady wearing it in the eBay sales post.

With the help of Ascot security and the police (using the crime number and identification) the hat – complete with all tags - was then returned to Beverley and the lady questioned and removed from Ascot with the case being handed back to Surrey Police.

The very next day Beverley noticed a post of the same lady on Instagram who had been photographed at Ascot the day before – again wearing the stolen hat - by a racing magazine.

Although Beverley didn’t go out of her way to locate the missing hat, it reappeared in different ways three times until it was safely returned to her.

At present, Beverley and the team are waiting to hear further news but are grateful to the Surrey Police for their work.
