Sir, – May I seek space in your paper to express my
appreciation of the kindness and consideration shown by Farnham people to a somewhat decrepit senior citizen? As I drive around the town in my electric scooter I am constantly encountering friendly smiles and even offers of help, often from people I do not know.
As an outstanding example of this a few days ago two young men rescued me when my scooter batteries failed and stranded me at the bottom of Firgrove Hill, and I thank them most sincerely for their timely and strenuous assistance.
I have no strong views on the concept of original sin but I am firmly convinced of the reality of original virtue and am grateful to its local exponents for making our town such a pleasant place in which to grow old.
