RADICAL plans to close all 29 beds at Haslemere Hospital and turn it into a local care centre have been put forward by West Surrey Health Authority this week.
The new proposals, which, if adopted, would be implemented between 2002 and 2003, would mean the closure of all 14 neuro-rehabilitation beds in the hospital's Godwin Unit and 10 medical and five intermediate beds on Elizabeth Ward.
