ALL Saints School in Tilford has partnered with Farnham ASSIST, a Christian charity based in Farnham that assists the older generation.

The charity organises many regular events including a pie and pint group, Knit ‘n’ Natter group and regular church services.

One of the key aims to its success is organising the transport to get everyone to and from any event. Members are passionate about helping to prevent loneliness within the older community.

A Church of England school, All Saints is keen to work with the community and build strong links with charities.

Farnham ASSIST ran an assembly at the school to give the children an insight into what the charity get up to on a daily basis.

The school attended its fundraising Lego event at the Farnham Rugby Club in May, and most recently 15 ladies from the group’s, Knit ‘n’ Natter group came to teach the year two pupils the skill of knitting.

The ladies were more than happy to stay for afternoon tea and for a chat with the children.

The children sent a written invitation to each of the ladies prior to the event, they served tea consisting of scones and cucumber sandwiches – which they had made themselves.

The group demonstrated the knitting they do for charities and taught the children the basics.

All of the children and the ladies thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon, both gaining a lot from the event.
