SAVE Whitedown Allotment campaigners presented a "growing" petition to Alton Town Council on Monday, outlining their strong opposition to possible development of the site for low-cost housing.
According to Hands Off Whitedown (HOW) representative Adrian Deakin and Alton Allotment Association (AAA) chairman Michael Galpin, individual petition cards were distributed throughout the town's South West ward, with returns from those living close to the allotment of more than 80 per cent.
