THE winner of this year’s Farnham allotments pumpkin competition was announced by Farnham Town Council just in time for Hallowe’en.
Andy Hinchliff, who tends a plot on the Six Bells site, grew the biggest pumpkin across Farnham’s eight allotments. Its circumference measured in at an impressive 136cm.
Stephen Hill, the council’s lead member for community enhancement, said: “Despite the heavy rain in August making it a challenging year for pumpkin growing, our allotment holders have not been put off. We have seen a good selection of pumpkins in various shapes and sizes. While some were grown to make Hallowe’en lanterns, others were grown for making tasty soup and pumpkin pie.”
