DESPITE huge opposition from the local community, NTL has received planning permission to extend its transmitting station on Windmill Hill.
The district council received 49 letters of objection to the application, all on health and safety grounds stating: "We are very concerned that the properties situated near the above base station, many of which are the homes of children, are already in a high-risk zone."
