LIFELONG Churt resident (and octogenarian para-glider) Annie Woods has celebrated her 100th birthday with friends and family.

Annie, who famously undertook a sponsored paraglide for charity aged 89, marked the occasion with a party at Tilford Care & Nursing Home on Tuesday last seek surrounded by three generations of her family - and of course her telegram from the Queen.

One of nine children, when she was younger Annie worked at a chicken factory and later pulled pints at The Mariners pub in Frensham and The Pride of the Valley. Remarkably, she worked until she was 83 years old.

Very much a “family lady”, Annie married Burt and went on to have four children, 10 grandchildren and more than 15 great-grandchildren.

She has always been highly active and is well travelled, and is a big character of Tilford Care & Nursing Home in Grange Road, where she has lived for a number of years and is well loved by all.
