One of the standout pieces is the original cover artwork by Eisner Award-winning artist Daniel Warren Johnson for Wolverine 2020 No. 2 (Marvel Comics). Known for his high-energy, visceral style, Johnson captures Wolverine in a dramatic plunge, claws extended, hurtling toward his enemies. This rare opportunity to own an original by one of the comic book world’s greatest talents comes with a guide price of £4,000 to £8,000.

Among the top lots is a copy of The Avengers No. 1 (1963) — the historic debut issue that introduced Earth’s mightiest heroes. The comic also features cameos from Loki, the Fantastic Four, and the Teen Brigade. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, with inks by Dick Ayers, it’s a true grail for collectors and is expected to fetch between £5,000 and £7,000.
Also on offer is Amazing Spider-Man No. 1 (March 1963) — a milestone comic marking the origin of Spider-Man, and his first Fantastic Four crossover. With Stan Lee’s storytelling and Steve Ditko’s distinctive art, this issue remains one of the most collectible Spider-Man comics of all time. It has been valued at £4,000 to £6,000.
Another Marvel highlight is The Avengers No. 4 (1964), which reintroduces Captain America in his first Silver Age appearance. It's a pivotal moment in Marvel history, and with only a limited number of high-grade examples, this copy is expected to reach £4,000 to £5,000.

For lovers of classic Disney, March of Comics No. 4 (1947) is a rare gem. This charming issue stars Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse in Carl Barks' story ‘Maharajah Donald’. With just three copies graded at this level and only six known to be higher, this issue is estimated to sell for between £2,000 and £4,000.
Lastly, flying the flag for British comic history is 2000AD Prog No. 2 — the issue that introduced Judge Dredd to readers in 1977. Featuring art by Mike McMahon and Carlos Ezquerra, this high-grade example of a UK cult favourite carries pre-sale guide price of £400 to £800.
With original art, first appearances, and high-grade CGC slabs, this auction promises thrilling opportunities for comic collectors.
Viewing begins on July 14, from 9am to 5pm at Ewbank’s salesroom in Send, and continues until the day of the auction.
