Appointment of lead councillors defended

EAST Hampshire District Council has defended the appointments of lead councillors.

Liberal Democrat opponents of the scheme expres-sed fury at the introduction of lead councillors for Liberal Democrat strongholds like Alton. But the Conservative-run district council said the appointments were part of a drive to bring about better communication and major improvements in those areas.
