MAYBE it was the venue - a cramped classroom at Mill Chase school - but the first meeting of East Hampshire District Council's new Delivery Board, which will handle the masterplan blueprint to turn Bordon into an eco-town, could not be described as "smooth".

But one startling piece of news that did emerge from Tuesday's meeting was that the Army could still be planning to leave Bordon and an announcement on the garrison's future will be made in the new year.
