A WOMAN is warning fellow dog owners to be wary after her lurcher was attacked in Bordon. Lou Vychodil was walking through the Deadwater woods, near Weyford infant and junior schools, with her young children when a black "border collie type", not on a lead, savaged her dog. She said the incident - which led to surgical staples when she took lurcher Toby to the vet because she "couldn't stop the bleeding" - left her children "traumatised". "Ultimately, at the end of the day, dog ownership comes with responsibility," Mrs Vychodil said. "I have an expensive vet bill because someone else is being irresponsible." As the area is quite popular among dog walkers, Mrs Vychodil wanted members of the public to be vigilant and to keep dogs which may be dangerous under control. Although she described the incident as "horrible", she was grateful it was not worse. "I just want to warn other people - what if my kids had been in the middle of it?" she asked. After the attack, the dog's owner arrived but parted ways without conversation. Mrs Vychodil reported the incident to East Hampshire District Council's dog warden. Wardens are available between 8am and 4.30pm on 01730 234318 or [email protected]">[email protected].
