FETES and fayres have come thick and fast in recent weeks, boosted by the prolonged spell of summery weather.

The Bourne Show returned for its 92nd installment on July 6, opened by the mayor of Farnham Pat Evans. Up to 4,000 people turned out at the Bourne Green for this year’s festivities, sponsored by The Fox pub.

Visitors enjoyed all the usual traditional family-friendly entertainment, stalls, games, food and drink – plus the popular car show, produce competition and dog show.

The More House School jazz and steel band provided a musical backdrop, as did ‘gospel rapper’ Jordan Amadi-Myers, just appointed The Bourne’s youth minister, in closing the show.

Afterwards, chair of the Bourne Show committee Roger Goscombe thanked the event’s sponsors, committee, army of volunteers and Waverley Borough Council for making this year’s show a success.

Families also flocked to the Wrecclesham Village Fete last Sunday – held in glorious sunshine on the village recreation ground – boasting the added attraction of donkey rides.
