A HALE woman has appealed for dog owners to act more responsibly after being bitten on the leg by an aggressive dog as she tried to shield her own two small pets from an attack.

The incident, which victim Charmaine Williamson has reported to the police, took place last week on Hale Green and involved a dog she described as "a pit bull/bull terrier type".

Charmaine said she was about to let her West Highland terrier and Jack Russell off their leads when "an ugly, brown solid-looking dog" appeared from behind a large tree and started laying into them.
