ALTON and District Sports Council has vowed "to fight tooth and nail" for a new sports centre to serve the increasing needs of sports organisations in and around the town.

The declaration of intent follows a statement by East Hampshire District Council over the future of Alton Sports Centre and a suggestion that the days of a designated sports and leisure facility may be numbered.
